Almost 800 wines from Lombardia are now present on Wine Glossary!
This is a region with many different faces, and each zone has its distinctive traits that really makes it unique.
Franciacorta DOCG wines are sparkling wines from the province of Brescia obtained from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc.
On the shores of Lake Garda the Garda DOC white wines are obtained from Riesling, Italian Riesling, Garganega and Tuchì.
Red wines use instead Groppello, Marzemino, Barbera, Sangiovese and Merlot. Lugana DOC are white wines from the Turbiana grape.
Nebbiolo is the king in Valtellina where Valtellina Rosso DOC and Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG are the most famous designations.
Another interesting zone is Oltrepò Pavese with two important designations: Bonarda dell'Oltrepò Pavese DOC and Buttafuoco DOC.
The first dictactes the use of Croatina, with small portions of Vespolina and Uva Rara. The second also adds the Barbera grape.
