Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy)

Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a region dedicated to the production of quality white wines, thanks to the characteristics of the soil and the strong temperature range between day and night.

The 4 DOCG in the region are Picolit, Ramandolo (from Verduzzo Friulano grapes), Rosazzo and Lison (obtained mainly from Friulano grapes).

Carso DOC wines are obtained from the indigenous Terrano, while other DOC leave some freedom in the grape varieties to be used.

The main denominations of the region are Collio DOC, Friuli Colli Orientali DOC, Friuli Isonzo DOC and Friuli Grave DOC.

Most widely used whites grapes are Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Ribolla Gialla, Chardonnay, indigenous Malvasia Istriana and Pinot Blanc.

Among the reds are Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Schioppettino, Pignolo, in addition to the international Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Noir.
